Romantic Movies That’ll Make You Laugh

Posted by admin on 23 Mar 2010 | Tagged as: Movies Resources

Romance is serious business. Or is it?

Which do you think your husband would choose if put to the test:

a.) Watch the beautiful tearjerker movie, The Notebook
b.) Do anything that doesn’t involve watching The Notebook

My answer is easy. My husband would opt for a root canal rather than sitting through a movie like The Notebook or Terms of Endearment. Now don’t get me wrong. That doesn’t mean he’s not romantic. The man loves deeper than I could describe. He’s simply not a fan of traditional ‘romance movies’.

Our date nights usually involve Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson, or Jim Carrey. Those men don’t know this, but they’re a huge part of what makes our marriage such a joy. The fact that our date nights consist of a fun movie instead of a forced moment means that my husband is happy and relaxed - two very good things for romance.

Are you looking for a lighthearted fun romantic movie that both you and your husband will enjoy? Here are some of our favorites.

The Princess Bride (1987)
“Is this a kissing book?” The Princess Bride is the story of a woman who is being forced to marry a cold, evil prince, while her true love tries to stop the wedding.

I don’t know how many times I tried to get my husband to watch this movie until finally I just put the movie in, clicked ‘play’, and hid the remote. It’s now one of his favorite movies. He likes it because of the comedy and the fighting. I love it because it’s just a joy to watch.

Groundhog Day (1993)
After reluctantly going to cover Punksatawney Phil for Groundhog Day, a weatherman gets stuck living the same day repeatedly.

This is one of my husband’s all-time favorite movies. Plus, if your husband is a fan of Caddyshack, he’ll appreciate Bill Murray battling a rodent once again.

The Wedding Singer (1998)
Robbie, the wedding singer and Julia, the waitress are both engaged to be married but to the wrong people.

Any man who remembers the 80s will thoroughly enjoy this. And, every woman will be teary-eyed when Robbie sings “Grow Old with You” at the end.

Love Actually (2003)
This movie portrays eight stories of love. It shows romantic love, as well as love of a father for his son, love between siblings, and love of friendship. It’s a beautiful story that shows that Love Actually is All Around. It’s funny on so many levels, but also deeply touching.

Romance doesn’t need to be serious. It can be fun! Just enjoy each other. Now go grab a funny movie, snuggle up with your hubby and enjoy.

Nicole Dean invites you to www.RomanceYourHusband.com, a website dedicated to helping married couples stay friends and to help them remember why they married each other in the first place. Our disclaimer is: If he’s a jerk, this won’t work. But, if he’s sweet, rub his feet.

College Humor Television May Cause Cancer

Posted by admin on 22 Nov 2008 | Tagged as: Movies Resources

Dear College Humor Television,

I was surfing through your site to do some research on what passes for college entertainment for my Senior Seminar project. After trying to force a smile at College Humor.com’s April Fools joke this year, I clicked on the CHTV logo to see the first episode of the site’s TV show. I’m not an expert on college television, but I’d like to think I know a thing or two about what is funny, and what makes people want to play with a sheet of metal during a thunderstorm. I can say without any shred of doubt CHTV is the latter.

The fact that College Humor has a developmental deal with SONY Pictures makes me want to cut my wrists, and hope I survive long enough to cut them again. Here is what is wrong with CHTV. First, your host looks like Captain Emo. When I see him I see the face of Dashboard Confessional fans. And studies have shown being exposed to people who like Dashboard or other “fine” emo music leads to the Ebola virus. Another highly contagious disease that, like emo music, makes people vomit in-between wild fits of fevor and crying in the corner. Man on the street segments don’t work for Jay Leno or David Letterman; they’re not going to work for you. And oh yeah, way to be “hip and edgy” by asking people when was the last time they got “laid.” Like we haven’t heard that one on the National Lampoon Network or any HBO special involving regular people. The Black Eyed Peas joke made me want to piss myself.

Not because it was funny, but because the filth I would be swimming in would be more entertaining than the excrement I was watching on your show. A college student in New York City is as far as you can get from the portrayal of the “average” college student, which you claimed to be reaching in your man on the street segment. There is nothing wrong with college students from New York City, but all because you were too lazy to film the segment elsewhere doesn’t give you the right to advertise you were reaching out to the “average” college student.

The rejected video segment and random “fact” segments were terrible. The facts weren’t even funny. College students don’t care about the lottery, and the Super Mario Brothers joke died before it even left the host’s mouth. I realize Ebaum’s World has a TV deal with USA Network to do pretty much what you just did with showing rejected clips, but all because they’re doing it doesn’t mean you should. Are you seriously that desperate for something to rip off? If you are I recommend just about anything on Comedy Central because Comedy Central is about as funny as a September 11th movie.

Hey, do you know any funny fart jokes? Why don’t you work some of those in there? You can ask Judah Friedlander to write some “funny” jokes for you. Because his segment was so funny, I was hoping a doctor would come in and tell me I had cancer of the eye, and my brain made up Judah Friedlander to give me a reason not to prolong death. I don’t know how he gets work, but like him, I hope your show never reproduces. The last thing we need is another “edgy” college television show that just makes us look like a bunch of white, quasi-retarded men and women who suffer from alcoholism, slack off, and sleep around. Thanks; at least the next time I don’t get hired for a job when I graduate I’ll know whom to blame.

Sincerely,

Brandon J. Mendelson

The Simpsons (Season 5) DVD Review

Posted by admin on 21 Nov 2008 | Tagged as: Movies Resources

Originally a spin-off from a one-minute segment of The Tracy Ullman Show, The Simpsons morphed into the then-burgeoning FOX network’s most successful program. As the longest running animated television show in history, and the longest running prime-time show of any type, The Simpsons is an American treasure - a combination of humor, wit, and satire that examines not just the lives of its eccentric characters, but also the society, culture, and world in which we live. Fun for adults and children alike, The Simpsons is a cutting edge television comedy that, like Seinfeld, changed the television landscape in the 1990’s by creating a new genre of TV fun that spawned large network investments in new animated series such as King of the Hill, Futurama, and The Family Guy.

The Simpsons (Season 5) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “Homer’s Barbershop Quartet” in which Homer tells Bart and Lisa the story of his early brush with fame as a member of “The Be Sharps” - a barbershop quartet composed of Homer, Principal Skinner, Apu, and Barney (who replaced Chief Wiggum at the request of a music rep). The Be Sharps take the world by storm, performing for President Reagan and Johnny Carson. Eventually, the band is destroyed by Homer’s bad song writing and Barney’s new Asian girlfriend… Other notable episodes from Season 5 include “Rosebud” (a satire of Citizen Kane, but with Mr. Burns in the starring role) and “Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy” in which Lisa protests the stereotypical and sexists remarks made by a talking Malibu Stacy doll (her efforts eventually lead to a new product design which bombs in the marketplace)…

Read this Article if You Like The Fox News Channel

Posted by admin on 19 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: Movies Resources

Are you one of the many viewers of the number one Fox News Channel, which boasts to be the leader in network news? Your best source for fair and balanced coverage with many celebrity news commentators weaving the stories with flashy 5-7 segments of mankind’s greatest controversies of our time? Do you watch “The Factor” series and the “No Spin” zone where they spin everything but the cameras and cut off every guest mid sentence? Is there not a more entertaining shouting match on your television today?

Who can beat the show? Flashing lights and better graphics than the pre-presentation at most movie theatres and if it were a flash presentation on the Internet it surely would win awards. You gotta love the Fox News Channel for its biting commentary and sitcom style debates. But is that really news? That is to say does anyone really learn anything? No guest has ever left the show giving up all the pertinent information on any issue? Is that fair or balanced? Is it fair for all concerned? Is there a way we can keep the incredible entertainment value but still get some reality-based news without the skew?

With Bill, Greta, Neil, Hannity, Heraldo, Oliver and that ding dong guy Allen Colmes they have quite a line-up indeed. But is this more about show than news? Do you like the show, but need more substance? Some people don’t as it appeals to their reading level really. But others say, they would like more substance, less commercials, longer segments and less repeating of pre-taped chaos and controversy. What say you? Think on it.

Transferring iPod Data from iPod to PC

Posted by admin on 11 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: Movies Resources, University of Information, Video Stuff

There aren’t many negatives to the Apple iPod, but one complaint often is often referred by iPod users is the lack of ability to move iPod data from their iPod to a new computer. Although iPod has no issues uploading content from your PC or laptop to iPod using iTunes, the reverse is disallowed. Without iPod to Computer Software System, you will be unable to move your iPod data to an additional personal computer. This subject oftentimes comes up when customers get a new computer or have to restart the operating system on their current personal computer. Apple prevents this action because it does not want unauthorized sharing of bought videos and music from the iTunes website. Nevertheless, there are multiple legitimate situations that iPod users require the ability to copy from iPod to PC. If a machine dies and you have to install the OS, you may need iPod to PC copy software to retrieve your worthful data files. Otherwise, the clean installment of iTunes will wipe clean your iPod, potentially costing you $1,000’s of dollars in deleted data. Another common situation customers need these types of programs is when they get a new computer and need to move their existing library of iPod music on the new computer. Over Again, without this type of software, you could potentially lose your worthful files. There are many developers on the marketplace now that offer up programs to accomplish this chore. A prompt visit to software download sites will show a lot of selections. You might also just type ‘iPod to PC transferring software’ into Google or Yahoo.
