Situated conveniently between Sheffield and Manchester, the Peak District is a perfect getaway from the stresses and strains of urban day to day life. If you hail from Manchester or Sheffield, it’s reachable within an hour going by car or train and a superb selection for a one or two day break, or even longer. If you are travelling from a place further away, we advise you can stay in the Peak District for 4 or 5 days since there’s plenty to discover and do in the Peak area.
A good number of people connect the Peak area with the summer period, but it’s idyllic all year round, and nowhere is the season’s change more accentuated than in the Peak District.
As cited earlier, there is a good deal to do in the Peak District. The picturesque scenes entice people out of their hotels and onto long walks, and there’s a good deal of rambling to do - up to 30 well tramped routes.
In addition, there’s a great deal of sites to try your luck at fishing in the Peak District, in particular the Ladybower reservoir. Even if you’re not given to such physical hobbies, try Buxton for lunch and a stroll in the pavilion gardens, or the opera (yes, Buxton has its own Opera house). Finally the villages in the Hope Valley that are picturesque.
